The last big hoorah of summer is Labor Day and thoughts of backpacks, new shoes and notebooks are swirling in parents' and children's minds.
After being without shoes all summer, I remember how difficult it was to get into shoes for school in September. Oh, how I ached to be without shoes and running on the beach again.
But I was also filled with the excitement of a new teacher and another grade. I went to a parochial grade school so I usually had the same classmates. That changed in parochial high school so I was also able to meet new people.
May you all have a very successful year!

School starts pretty early in the South but fear not because in May when everyone in the East is still in school, Maddie will be out frolicking with her brother, Ryan who just started pre-school this year.
