Extra, Extra

As you all know, Tony & I spend a lot of time away from our adult children and at times, I need to see their faces. A plane trip is an option but I found another option that costs quite a bit less and affords us the opportunity not only of talking to each other but "seeing' each other. The best part is that it is all FREE!

There is a free service called, Skype whose program allows you to "call" someone else who also has Skype on their computer. It's a computer to computer program. Besides the computer and software (free), you will need a webcam (cost is anywhere from $20 to $150) on your computer and a USB port to plug it into on your computer. You can also make telephone calls to any telephone in the US, Canada or the world but this service has fees. (the person you are calling does not need Skype or a computer since the calls come in on their regular phones)

Anyway, if you have children going off to college, I thought I'd pass on this treasure. That telephone bill can get pretty expensive and the bonus of being able to see and talk to each other for free is priceless. Click on the line below.
