Upcoming Switch To Digital Signal Will Make Old Televisions Obsolete
In case you haven't heard, your old non-HDTV television may be useless on Feb. 18, 2009. That's right, on that date the government has mandated that stations must transmit in an HDTV format. If your old clunker can't receive that format, you will either have to buy a new tv or get a converter box.

Phishing Fraud Hooks Fake E-mail Recipients
Have you received any e-mails lately purporting to be from the Federal Trade Commision or the Internal Revenue Service, a financial institution, or perhaps the Justice Department?

This is a new scam to attempt to trick consumers into divulging personal financial information. Phishing typically involves sending fraudulent e-mails that include links that direct recipients to fake Web sites where they are asked to input sensitive data. Phishers may also include attachments that when clicked, secretly install "spyware" that can capture personal information and send it to third parties over the Internet.

How do you combat this? If you don't know the sender of an e-mail, delete it immediately. DO NOT OPEN IT! And if by chance you do open it, make sure you have a current security system in place on your computer, i.e. Norton Utilities or McAfee. If you have America Online, you get McAfee free in their free security package.

And if you receive any of those chain e-mails, just delete them no matter who they are from. This type of email may contain any number of viruses that are passed on from one computer to the next through this type of e-mail.
